JUSTIN’S METAL REVIEWS W/C 20/9/10
ANNIHILATOR / TOTAL ANNIHILATION
This is a FREE, yes I did say Free download compilation from those nice
people at Earache Records to coincide with the bands European tour (Oct-Nov
2010) and promote the bands current, self titled album and 6 re-issues of the
bands mid 90’s earl 2000’s period albums.
First is two scorching tracks from the bands new album, Thrash fest that
is “The Trend” and “Ambush”, the next two tracks are “Battered” and the melodic
title track from the “Carnival Diablos” CD both of which are Jeff Waters at his
best. The next two are from “Criteria For A Black Window”, “Back To The
Palace” and “Nothing Left” and prove that the Annihilator quality control is
consistent, the speed frenzy of “Ultra-Motion” and “Ritual” are next up from
the 90’s album “Waking The Fury”. The next two track are from “King Of
The Kill” the track of the same name and “Second To None”, you get the
title track from “Refresh The Demon” and the brilliant “Ultraparanoia”, which
just leaves “Tricks And Traps” and “Nothing Left” from “Remains”.
They say you don’t anything for FREE worth having, this compilation
prove that adage totally wrong, click on the link below, join the mailing list
and get this superb CD and if you haven’t got any of the above albums I feel
you will have soon, Enjoy and a big THANKS to Earache, other record companies
take note, lets hope this is the start of a new trend!

AUTOPSY / THE TOMB WITHIN
Well the wait is over, finally some more new material from Death Metal
legends Autopsy, five brand new extreme Metal songs that are all totally
awesome, the EP kicks off with the brutal title track “The Tomb Within” packed
full some of the best riffs you’ve heard for ages and the guys have still got
what it takes. The second salvo is the aptly named “My Corpse Will Rise”
and it’s just as good as the first, “Severed Skulls” is aggressive brutality
put into musical form and leaves no prisoners, neither does “Human Genocide”,
its so good to have these guys back. My personal favourite of the pack is
the final, lengthier “Mutant Village”, nearly six minutes of pure Metallic
bliss and as well as the Brutal Death Metal there are some slower Doom laden
moments that make this such an breath-taking track.
If your looking for a real Extreme Metal treat then you have to buy this
fantastic EP, here’s hoping a full album isn’t far away.
